Philly jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, on goals by James van Riemsdyk, Tyler Pitlick and Nicolas Aube-Kubel. Scott Laughton added to the lead in the middle frame before a couple of quick Panthers goals to open the third made things a little more uncomfortable than they needed to be.
But Sean Couturier and Robert Hagg put the game out of reach with goals in the final five minutes to ice the game.
It was good to see the orange and black bounce back from Tuesday’s multi-layered disaster, and now they’ll look to build momentum heading into the trade deadline with four games, including a home-and-home with the Columbus Blue Jackets, before the Monday February 24th cutoff.
